KUKULU

Culturally, the Ethiopians are raised with an emphasis on the core value of family and community. Many of their games are played in large groups. Kukulu is like “Hide and Seek”, but Ethiopians have 6 to 15 players.

DIRECTIONS:

Before the game begins, a place must be chosen to be the home base. This place is called the Mariam. One person is chosen to say “Kukulu.” Once the child says “Kukulu” in the Mariam, the other children hide for a certain amount of time. When the chosen child searches for the hidden children, they try to run back to the Mariam without being caught. Those who are not caught are the winners
